Here is the real reason why Christians should celebrate Easter.

Happy Easter, everyone. Been a minute since I’ve posted; as of right now, I still have zero viewers, but I really did want to make a habit of posting on this blog every day. And what better time to start than now? Jesus’ resurrection is undoubtedly the most miraculous event to ever happen on this planet Earth, and yet I feel it’s also heavily misunderstood. I see so many people posting the same reused verse every single year, “He is risen,” and focusing on the wonders of Jesus coming back to life. While this is a huge part of our beliefs and is indeed a good thing for us to celebrate, I feel like people are really missing the mark here. You see, Jesus didn’t die and come back from the dead just to show what he was capable of. He did it to show that those who believe in him have access to this power as well.

Don’t get me wrong here; this doesn’t make you invincible, and you shouldn’t go running off of cliffs expecting to be rebooted like in a videogame. I’m talking about SPIRITUAL death and resurrection. You might ask what it even means to have a death that isn’t the physical kind. The best way to understand this is to realize it for yourself. The best I can do is show you where to start looking. That place is neatly tucked within the pages of the holy and utterly powerful book you have on your shelf. The one collecting dust, waiting for you to open it and absorb its contents. Once you start reading and understanding with not just your mind but also your heart, this death makes a lot more sense.

For those of you who have already experienced it: Good news. You are also resurrected, and you are wide awake in comparison to the 90% of people who cling to the smoke and mirrors of their physical lives. If you’re going through it, facing depression, addiction, anxiety, loneliness, or even all of the above like I once did, this truth remains the same in every waking moment of your life. I see all of these believers going through the same things, Christians all over the world giving their testimony and sharing their feelings of emptiness, worldly pains, and mental suffering, hoping that things would just end. It’s clear that almost all followers follow a similar path. This idea that I had was actually confirmed today as my pastor shared his own story about how his lowest point turned him to the Truth, and it was something that I understood so well despite how different our stories are. It’s strange because these people who have been going through it their entire lives also seem to be the happiest. It’s almost as if a switch had just flipped, and everything from their past just died and shriveled up, and something new was born from the ashes. Coincidence?

Obviously, this can’t all happen overnight, but as someone who has just recently experienced this awakening after several years of suffering, I can safely say that whatever you may be going through, it all leads to the same conclusion. Jesus died and came back from the dead so that you may also experience it in your own life. That is the TRUE beauty of Easter.
